Cathy Denise Lawing Henderson
Cathy was born in Charlotte and raised in the Derita area. Her father, Robert C Lawing, worked for Southern Bell. Her mother, Priscilla Ferguson also grew up in the Derita area and attended Derita High School. Cathy went to Statesville Road Elementary, Ranson Junior High, and then North Mecklenburg. While at North, she was a majorette and enjoyed going to the ball games and parades. Just after high school, Cathy and Bill married and moved to Charlotte.
Cathy worked for Southern Bell in the engineering department for a while, then left to become a paralegal at Echols, Purser, and McNeely. She worked on closings for the attorneys and really enjoyed the job. After a number of years, she decided that she needed more benefits due to a growing family, so she returned to AT&T and started working as an Information Technology Manager. She had a number of hats to wear in that position and did a fine job from 1983 until her retirement in 2005 from AT&T, then a one year stint at Hewlett Packard.
In 2005, Cathy decided to join Bill in the real estate business, so she left HP and took her brokers courses and got her broker’s license. In 2007, she joined Lake Norman South Realty and has worked there since. Her background in working with the attorneys has brought a lot of knowledge to the team.
Cathy is very active with Charlotte Pregnancy Center and with her kids and grandchildren
